Why I Don't Write Anymore

Published

It’s been awhile since I’ve published anything. I don’t feel as motivated about my note taking practice. I’ve fallen out of the habit.

The idea of building up a personal library of atomic units of knowledge about everything I encounter doesn’t interest me anymore because the advancements in artificial intelligence are so darn incredible.

If I’m being honest, part of the reason I write publicly is recognition. There is something satisfying about helping another human being find an un-google-able answer.

Now, we’re better off just asking ChatGPT.

It’s kind of funny and sad at the same time. I have “real intelligence” but the simulation of intelligence turns out to be far more useful.

That’s why what I want to write more about ideas. Instead of squirreling away rote facts and tidbits hoping my supplies will be useful some day, I want to hold onto my interpretations and (informed) opinions.

Maybe there’s a chance for a human internet again. Maybe it’s not geocities and blink tag nostalgia but more about the unique expression of each person that dares to smush their fleshy fingers against a keyboard to publish a web page in the age of AI.

Maybe?
